My fall plan
It's not quite the 'I have nothing to wear' symdrome, but rather the 'my wardrobe looks cheap' summer allergy that bugged me. Dunno if you've had this feeling before, whenever I wear high street stuffs for a while, I'd feel a bit low, showing signs of disgust 'n get bored with'em, next thing you know is that they're unwanted (by me, of cos). I had it 6-7 years ago when was still a shopper at izzue.com (local HK high street chain store).
My wardrobe life after Hedi Slimane's Dior Homme has been shuttling between low-high-low instead of just high-high. Occasional tees 'n skinnies from H&M or Uniqlo are fine for the summer as I tend not to buy major investment pieces in summer collection, but after feeling 'ill', that triggered me to consider buying items with design (and collectable) for the summer is actually not a bad idea 'n worth doing so, probably the only way to cure myself too, thus the two Raf by Raf Simons tees from Lane Crawford. As I tour around the store, there're nice casual items that's worth buying now when on sale for the local hot summer, however, I must control myself for the upcoming major buy in the F/W 08 collection.
Brands that attract me the most in the winter, needless to say is YSL Homme by Stefano Pilati, it was as if tailor-made for me (being vain), but since the prix has gone completely off the roof and these are pieces that I won't wear too often, I have to have wardrobe B alternatives to cover my day to day life. Since I'm getting to like Marc Jacobs' stuffs, I check'd on his web and unveil Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs, they are rather desirable I must say. 'MJ' looks rather Prada-esque with urban functional clothes for men; when MiuMiu-esque 'MxMJ' shows youthful hipness and youthful charms. I've been looking for a biker, and I fall for the the black number as well as a cropped check-jacket(as shown below) in the collection. Adding a piece or two from Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester or Raf and I am done for the wardrobe (given the fact if I have sufficient financial support).

I'm obsessed with Marc Jacobs
Changing one's first impression was hard, and changing mine is even tougher.
Ever since the 90s, I have never been intrigued by Marc Jacobs, who I considered as someone more of a stylist, instead of a designer. For a long time, as he drew inspirations from vintage and played with American sportswear during the last decade, I must admit I was not impressed with what he did and think of him as someone with less capacity more than a great designer. But it all have changed. Ever since 2007 S/S collection, Marc has come from strength to strength, showing us his genuine thoughts on modern meaning of clothing designs, yes, I now see designs. As his came cleaned, transformed his own physic appearance and evolved the aesthetic point of viewing things, Marc Jacobs is really modern, and you kind of expect this would come out of a fresh young designer and aged 21 or something, but wrong- we are all witnessing the change of a great designer in-the-making.

Other than his own collections: Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs, his work at Louis Vuitton has taken up to another level too, I now see LV's a better collection than Chanel by Lagerfeld whom somehow stuck in a rug in the last couple of years, when Marc has been pouring juicy ideas into the creative process. It certainly helps after watching his [Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton] documentary which I find very amusing and surely changed my impression and conception of him, his work and Louis Vuitton. Has it got to do with the love factor? or is it mid-life crisis? better still, the cleansing effect? Maybe all of the above, but I'm very much in love with what he does now. I would also give him 10 thumbs up if I have'em, I genuinely think of MJ an honest and sweet person for what he does to BryanBoy, we all know about the BB bag story, and now, apparently he's taken BB to a new level by using him as a blueprint muse for Marc by Marc Jacobs (shot by Juergen Teller), featuring male model Cole Mohr in both menswear and womenswear with identical hair style and posture just as how handbag-carrying BB would do: camp, funny, larger than life.
This is so much of a mutual support/ love story between a designer and his/her fan who might have longing for ages. To Marc Jacobs, my new fashion hero.

The B.B. Story

They are certainly doing it in NYC, Gucci invites bloggers from around the world to their flagship store opening, now bloggers BryanBoy has been noticed by both Vmagazine and Marc Jacobs (himself & co., BIG TIME!!!), the latter even name a bag after him, calling it B.B. bag. Personally, I truly admire his effort on blogging, his genuineness, honesty, brave, attitude ... etc. Bryan Boy, a Birkin-clad gay twink-fashionista, go all outta the closet with his full-on gayness and passion to MJ & fashion, I assume "I am what I am" is his larger than life motto and give no shit about what other people think, this blog is up-close and personal.
Reading the BB bag story alarm me and make me think of the cover of VogueParis few months back (Nov 07). Carine Roitfeld put a black trannie on the cover along side with model Carolyn Murphy, it really reflects the world today, anything goes and this is the 'Pop-ness' of NOW, of the moment. Peers, shall we all take notes and only do things that you believe in, what not and why not, huh?!
